.... is a licensed psychologist who has practiced in school, child psychiatric, and private practice settings for over 30 years. She obtained her Ph.D. from Duke University in school psychology. Dr. Nielsen works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her expertise includes psychological testing, play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and family systems work. She has extensive experience working with chldren of divorced parents. She as a special interest in sandplay as a unique modality for individual depth work.

Dr. Nielsen employs a collaborative approach in working with clients and their families to establish goals for counseling and to monitor progress toward goals.

Dr. Nielsen is married and the mother of two daughters. She has lived in the Raleigh area over 20 years. Her office is conveniently located on Glenwood Avenue near I-540, in the Water Garden Office Park. The office is in a private, wooded setting which is ideal for the counseling process.
